Tyler Yob, founder and instructor of ShiftMoto

Meet Tyler Yob.
Founder. Instructor. Rider.

With more than 22 years in the saddle, Tyler has spent his life riding everything from technical single-track to long adventure routes — constantly putting in the miles that build real instinct and control on a motorcycle.

His background spans trail riding, adventure riding, technical terrain, and ongoing skill development with other coaches and riders. As an MSF-certified instructor, he focuses on practical skills, confidence, and the kind of bike control that holds up in real-world riding situations — not just in a parking lot.

Off the bike, Tyler serves as a Firefighter & EMT, and that safety-first mindset carries straight into how he coaches: calm, clear, and focused on helping every rider progress at a pace that actually sticks.

Kids bike rentals are available in limited quantities and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

What type of motorcycle should I bring?+

For DBS and Intro to Trail Riding: a properly running dirt bike sized for the rider. For ABS: a street-legal adventure motorcycle you can comfortably handle. For kids, smaller-displacement dirt bikes appropriate to age and size.

Are rental motorcycles available?+

Adult dirt and adventure bike rentals may be available through ShiftMoto partners, including Washington Moto Adventures and Full Throttle Club. Availability is not guaranteed — request a rental on the Training Date form and we'll confirm options.

Can I rent riding gear?+

Limited riding gear may be available upon request. Riders are encouraged to bring their own properly fitted gear whenever possible.

What riding gear is recommended?+

Helmet, eye protection, long sleeves and pants, over-the-ankle boots, and gloves. Full off-road gear (chest protector, knee/shin guards, off-road jersey and pants) is strongly recommended.

Is a full-face helmet required?+
